Blogger's Quilt Festival - Fall 2012: Halloween Swoon

Esta es mi entrada para el Blogger's Quilt Festival de otoño 2012: una colcha Super Swoon con telas de Halloween. 

This is my entry for the Blogger's Quilt Festival - Fall 2012: a Halloween Super Swoon quilt. 

Hace unos años me enamoré de esta colección de telas (Trick or Treat de Riley Blake por Doodlebug Design) y con parte de ellas le hice una colcha a mi ahijada. El resto lo reservaba para algo especial. Cuando vi lo que lucían las telas en la colcha Super Swoon que hice para mi amiga Mireia me decidí.

A few years ago I fell in love with this collection of fabrics (Trick or Treat by Doodlebug Design for Riley Blake) and with some of them I made a quilt for my goddaughter. The rest is saved them for something special. When I saw how pretty fabrics looked in the Super Swoon quilt I made for my friend Mireia I decided I should make one for myself using these fabrics.

También usé para el fondo una tela de la colección Quilter's Linen de Robert Kaufman en el color Stone. La tela es muy chula ya que tiene un dibujo que imita el lino pero es 100% algodón.

I also used Quilter's Linen in Stone from Robert Kaufman. The fabric is very cool because it has a design that mimics linen but is 100% cotton.

Para la trasera utilice una tela de la misma colección en tonos grises.
For the backing I used a fabric of the same collection in grey.

Para el acolchado hice líneas rectas como suelo hacer habitualmente y en los bordes líneas rectas formando un cuadrado para "enmarcar" el quilt.

I quilted straight lines as I usually do and in the border I also did straight line but "framing" the quilt.

El método/patrón es el mismo que utilice para la anterior: Super Swoon

Halloween Fácil / Easy Halloween

Mi ahijada me ha salido muy moderna y ya desde muy pequeña (ahora tiene 21 meses) le encantan las calaveras, el color negro etc... Mi madre me pidió si podía hacerle una colcha de Halloween que seguro que le gustaría.

My goddaughter is very modern and since she was very small (she's 21 months now) she loves skulls, black colour etc... My mother asked me if I could make her a Halloween quilt as she was sure she would like one.

Hacía tiempo que me miraba las telas de la colección Trick or Treat de Riley Blake y cuando vi que había una super oferta en The Fat Quarter Shop (*) no me lo pensé dos veces. Como queríamos dársela rápido compré un panel (es un trozo de tela con varios dibujos de la colección y parece una colcha) que utilicé para la parte de delante y un Rolie Polie (mini jelly roll) de la colección para la trasera y el bies.

I had been eyeing for some time the fabrics in the Trick or Treat collection by Riley Blake and when I saw that there was a super deal on The Fat Quarter Shop (*) I made up my mind. As we wanted to give it to her inmmediately I simply buyed a panel (a piece of fabric with various designs of the collection that already looks like a quilt) that I used for the front and Rolie Polie (mini jelly roll) of the collection for the backing and the bias .

No tuvo mucho secreto, cosi las tiras suficientes para hacer la trasera, dejando 4 aparte para el biés, acolché bastante denso como a 2 cm de distancia con un hilo lila precioso que compré en JMartínez (*) y reseguí algunos dibujos/cuadrados.

It was really easy, I just sew enough strips to make the backing, leaving 4 for the binding, I quilted quite a bit, straight lines at less than 7/8 of an inch with a pretty purple thread I buyed at JMartínez (*) and I also quilted some squares/motifs.

Las fotos son bastante pésimas, ya la habíamos regalado y las hice un día que fui a verlas con el movil. Lo siento, pero es que una vez hechas me pierden las prisas por entregarlas. Ni que decir tiene que la nena está como una loca con la colchita y va para arriba y para abajo con ella...

The photos are pretty bad, but we had already gifted it and I made them with my Iphone one day I was visiting her. I'm sorry, but once I finish a quilt I can't wait to give it. Of course the girl is mad about her Halloween quilt and keeps taking it with her from one room to another...
