Blogger's Quilt Festival: Postage Stamp Quilt

This summer I wanted to make a quilt for my mother's bed and I knew what pattern would I use when I saw the postage stamp quilt along from the PS I Quilt blog
Regarding the fabrics I already had the perfect jelly roll as I wanted something traditional and in browns but not too dark, it's Faith - Collection for a Cause by Moda. For the solids I wanted something neutral and chose Kona cotton in Stone.

I changed the size a little bit by adding more squares at the bottom with some I had left and I added a border of Kona Stone. With more remnants and a bit more fabric I made two cover for the cushions and the bag where she keeps her pyjamas.

Finally I quilted in straight lines making squares, but not on the ditch (as I has press opened the seams). It was quite difficult as it was the first time I machine quilted and the size, but although it's full of mistakes I'm quite happy with it. I used Hobbs wool batting.

¡A disfrutar!

The best thing about it, the surprise my mother had when she returned from holidays and found it on her bed! This is the link to see the rest of the entries to the Blogger's quilt festival
Enjoy!

  2. THIS IS WONDERFUL! I also participated in the postage stamp quilt-a-long, but haven't done anything with the top yet. I like the idea of adding extra borders. I'm also always on the hunt to see how people quilt this project. You did a fantastic job... But it looks like a LOT of work. :)

  12. I'm usually not so sure about the postage stamp quilt pattern, but your quilt looks really beautiful in these colours and fabrics. The kona stone make a perfect background.
