Blogger's Quilt Festival: Postage Stamp Quilt

This summer I wanted to make a quilt for my mother's bed and I knew what pattern would I use when I saw the postage stamp quilt along from the PS I Quilt blog
Regarding the fabrics I already had the perfect jelly roll as I wanted something traditional and in browns but not too dark, it's Faith - Collection for a Cause by Moda. For the solids I wanted something neutral and chose Kona cotton in Stone.

Nunoya

No había estado nunca y me encantó.

Last Saturday I visited Nunoya, a store in Barcelona specializing in Japanese fabric. I had never been and I loved it. It’s located in the Carrer de la Palla 6 and they have great opening hours as they are even open on Saturday afternoon.

They have everything from traditional Japanese fabrics, garments made with their fabrics (they had a beautiful dress in the shop window) and modern fabrics; including many of Kokka (I spotted collections by Melody Miller, Echino and Far Far Away by Heather Ross among others... so dangerous!).

I took the opportunity to buy some fabric for a patchwork scarf, others to make some head handkerchiefs for my goddaughter, and one Far Far Away fat quarter (they have baskets with fat quarters for 4.85 €) because I could not resist.

In short, a great store with beautiful fabrics to which I will return.

1600 jelly roll quilt

This is already the second time I do this pattern. It's quite well known, and it's called 1600 jelly roll quilt because it's the number of inches you sew (a complete jelly roll). If you search online there are several tutorials for the pattern, but is fairly quick and very easy.

Regarding the materials, you just need a jelly roll, about 4 yards for the backing (you will have some left), 172 yard for the bias and the batting. I quilted "in the ditch" (I think that's how you say it in english) and I embroidered the name of the person and the year in a corner. It is a gift for a friend of my mother who just turned 60.

Fabrics are Oasis by 3 sisters for Moda.

After reading many patchwork blogs and as I like so much internet, I thought that perhaps I should have one myself. I don't know how will it go as writing a diary never interested me, but let's see...
(English readers: please forgive my english, I'll try my best...)
